The Embrace by Erik Poulsen

The sculptor, Erik Poulsen, from Harboøre is the creator of the sculpture ’The Embrace’.

The mother protects her child by embracing it in her arms, while the child responds by stretching out its arms and tries to put them around the mother’s neck. The child is placed between her legs and both figures are naked.

The lines in the work of art are oriented towards the vertical – and horizontal, which creates a peaceful atmosphere.

The sculpture is the essence of the unrequired love that exists between mother and child. It closes around itself, and an intimate space is created around mother and child.

’The Embrace’ was set up in 1981.
