The small bronze sculpture is created by the Dutch artist Kees de Kat, and is a gift for Struer from a Dutch engineer. Is was set up in 1962.

The sculpture has been roaming around town. It was first placed on Lilletorv, but since it looked flawed on the square, it was moved around for some time. ’Girl Washing Her Feet’ finally found its residence right by the entrance to the public library.

The young girl is sitting with her back straight and with one foot under her right leg. She looks thoughtful, as if she has been stopped in the middle of a strain of thought while washing her feet.

The sculpture’s lines and composition are at ease, and fit the atmosphere at the library well.
