Wings by Erik Heide

Erik Heide has created a fascinating collaboration between the red cast iron and the grey granite stone.

The footing stands solid with its vertical and horizontal properties, while the cast iron’s slanting lines tell the eye that it is in the middle of a slow, gliding motion.

Many sculptures are open to individual interpretations. We all see different things, depending on who we are.

Erik Heide calls his work from 1981 ’Wings’, which means that many perceive the work of art as a flying bird, while others see it as a descending airplane. What do you see?
