Three vertical masts hold three arched sails made of steel, which signify movement via their form.

”Struer is a town with wind in its sails”, said the mayor when the work of art was inaugurated in 1996.

The sculptures were made in collaboration with master smith, Herluf Dahl. They inhabit their very natural place at the harbour and have become a well-known landmark for Struer.

Because of the work of art’s place, it is experienced on a daily basis by pedestrians, cyclists, and sailors who come to the small, good town by the Limfjord.

The writer, Johannes Buchholtz, stated that Struer is the result of a happy marriage between the railroad and the Limfjord’s daughter, the harbour.

The three sails are therefore a great symbol of the harbour and the trade, which became so important for the town’s history and development.
